Dr. Sahar Tabrizi is a licensed naturopathic doctor in Toronto who orders and interprets functional and conventional lab testing for women, from hormone and thyroid panels to gut and metabolic testing. Her practice is fully virtual, so you can test and get answers from anywhere in Ontario.

Stop guessing. See what your body is actually doing.

Sound familiar

You've Been Told Everything's Fine, But You Know Something's Off.

You do not need more reassurance. You need to actually see what is going on, so your plan is built on data instead of guesswork.

Your labs came back "normal": but you still feel exhausted, foggy, or not like yourself

Only your TSH was checked: so a full thyroid picture was never actually looked at

Your hormones were never measured: just assumed from your symptoms and left at that

Your bloating went unexplained: with no one looking at what your gut is actually doing

You were handed a prescription: before anyone found the root cause of how you feel

A test does not label you or box you in. It gives you answers you can finally act on.

What we can test

The Full Picture, Not Just One Number.

Dr. Sahar orders only the panels that fit your symptoms and goals. Here is the range she works with for women across Ontario.

Hormone testing: estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and cortisol patterns, including the DUTCH test, to see how your hormones actually rise and fall across your day and cycle.

Full thyroid panel: not just TSH. Free T3, Free T4, and antibodies, so an underactive or autoimmune thyroid does not get missed.

Digestive and gut testing: including the GI-MAP stool test, to look at the microbiome, inflammation, and what could be driving bloating or irregularity.

Blood sugar and metabolic markers: insulin, fasting glucose, and HbA1c, to make sense of stubborn weight and energy crashes.

Nutrient and iron status: ferritin, B12, vitamin D, and more, because low reserves quietly drain your energy long before you feel truly deficient.

Cortisol and stress markers: to see whether burnout and broken sleep have shifted your stress hormones out of their natural rhythm.

How Testing Works

Simple, guided, and done from home. Here is what to expect from start to plan.

01

Order the right tests

After your consultation, Dr. Sahar orders only the panels that match your symptoms and goals. No guessing, no running everything for the sake of it.

02

Test from home

Most testing is done from the comfort of home or a local lab near you, anywhere in Ontario. Kits arrive by mail and blood draws use a lab close by.

03

Interpret together

You get a clear walkthrough of what your results actually mean, in plain language, looking at optimal ranges rather than only whether a number falls inside "normal."

04

A plan built on data

Your results shape a personalized plan of nutrition, targeted supplementation, and lifestyle support, so you are finally treating the real cause.

A test is only as good as the person reading it.

Lab work is detective work.

Ordering a panel is easy. Connecting the numbers to how you actually feel, and knowing what to do next, takes a licensed doctor trained in both functional and conventional medicine.

Why it matters who reads your labs

Anyone Can Run a Test. Reading It Is the Skill.

The value is not the panel itself. It is having a licensed doctor who can interpret it and turn it into a plan that fits your life.

A licensed doctor orders and interprets: as a regulated naturopathic doctor in Ontario, Dr. Sahar can order clinical testing and read it as a physician, not just hand you a report.

Functional and conventional together: she reads both worlds, so functional panels and standard bloodwork are connected into one clear story instead of sitting in separate silos.

Optimal, not just "in range": a result inside the reference range is not the same as a result that is right for you. She looks at where you actually feel your best.

Testing tied to real treatment: a test is only useful if someone knows what to do next. Your results lead straight into a plan, not another dead end.

One doctor, start to finish: Dr. Sahar reads your labs herself and stays with you through the plan. No rotating team you have to re-explain your story to.

Fully virtual across Ontario: testing is arranged and reviewed over secure video, so you get this depth of care from wherever you are in the province.

You don't need another number inside a range. You need someone who can tell you what it means for you.

Common Questions

What lab tests can a naturopathic doctor order in Ontario?

As a licensed naturopathic doctor, Dr. Sahar can order and interpret a wide range of testing for women in Ontario, including hormone panels like the DUTCH test, full thyroid panels, digestive and gut testing like the GI-MAP, blood sugar and metabolic markers, nutrient and iron status, and cortisol and stress markers.

See more about working with Dr. Sahar.

Do I need a referral from my family doctor?

No. You do not need a referral to work with Dr. Sahar or to arrange functional lab testing. She orders the testing directly as part of your care.

What is the difference between functional and conventional lab testing?

Conventional testing, like the bloodwork your family doctor runs, is excellent for flagging disease. Functional testing looks earlier and deeper, at patterns and optimal ranges, to explain why you feel off even when standard results look "fine." Dr. Sahar uses both together so nothing gets missed.

My doctor said my bloodwork is normal. Why would I test again?

This is one of the most common reasons women come to Dr. Sahar. Normal does not always mean optimal, and a standard panel often does not include the fuller hormone, thyroid, or gut markers that explain your symptoms. Testing the right things, and reading them properly, is where the answers usually are.

Can I do the testing from home?

Most of it, yes. Many panels are at-home kits that arrive by mail, and any blood draws are done at a lab near you. Because Dr. Sahar practices virtually, the whole process works from anywhere in Ontario.

How much does lab testing cost?

It depends entirely on which panels are right for you, which is why she only orders what your situation actually calls for. You will always know the cost before anything is ordered, and it is something you talk through together on your first call.

Is naturopathic lab testing covered by insurance?

Naturopathic visits are covered by many extended health plans, though lab testing itself varies by insurer and by test. It is worth checking your specific plan, and Dr. Sahar can point you to what to ask about.

Which test is right for me?

That is exactly what the first consultation is for. Rather than guessing, you and Dr. Sahar look at your symptoms and history together and decide which testing will give the clearest answers for you.
