A Naturopath for Hormonal Imbalance, For Women Who Are Done Guessing.

Dr. Sahar Tabrizi is a licensed naturopathic doctor in Toronto who helps women find the root cause behind PMS, irregular cycles, thyroid issues, PCOS, and hormonal fatigue, then rebalance them for good. Her practice is fully virtual, so you can work with her from anywhere in Ontario.

Real testing. Real answers. No extremes.

Your Hormones Are Talking. Most People Just Are Not Listening.

Hormonal symptoms are your body's way of communicating that something's off. When several show up together, it's not a coincidence, it's a connection.

Your cycle has changed: irregular, heavier, more painful, or disappearing altogether

PMS runs your month: mood swings, tender breasts, and irritability that arrive like clockwork

You are tired in a way sleep does not fix: wired at night, flattened by mid afternoon

Your weight stopped responding: the things that used to work suddenly do nothing

Your skin and hair changed: adult acne along the jaw, thinning hair, or new facial hair

You were told everything looks fine: but nothing about how you feel is fine

These are not separate problems you have to fix one at a time. They're connected signals asking for attention.

“Hormonal Imbalance” Is Not One Thing. Here Are Six Places I Look.

Your hormones work as a network, which is why treating only the loudest symptom rarely holds. Finding the right answer means knowing which part of the network is actually off.

Estrogen and progesterone

the balance between these two shapes your cycle, your mood, your sleep, and how you feel in the two weeks before your period. When progesterone falls behind, PMS, spotting, and anxiety often follow.

Thyroid

your metabolic thermostat. An underactive thyroid quietly slows everything down: energy, digestion, temperature, mood, and hair. It is also one of the most commonly under tested systems in women.

Cortisol

your stress hormone, and the one most affected by an ambitious life. Chronic stress reshapes your cortisol rhythm, which then pulls on your cycle, your sleep, and where your body stores weight.

Insulin and blood sugar

the hormone behind energy crashes, cravings, and stubborn midsection weight. Blood sugar swings also drive androgen production, which is why this system sits underneath so much of PCOS.

Androgens

testosterone and its relatives. When they run high, they show up on your skin and in your hair. When they run low, motivation, strength, and libido tend to go with them.

Your gut, which clears them

your liver and gut are how used hormones leave the body. When that pathway is sluggish, estrogen recirculates instead of clearing, which is why digestion and hormones are never really separate problems.

This is why I test rather than guess. See the full range of hormone and lab testing I can order for you in Ontario, or read more about hormonal weight gain and metabolism, or hormonal acne, hair, and skin.

How Your Labs Are Ordered and Interpreted Matters

Most women arrive having already been told their bloodwork is normal.

Usually it is. The problem is what was measured. A standard panel often checks TSH alone rather than a full thyroid picture, skips progesterone entirely, and looks at a single cortisol reading instead of the rhythm across your day. Timing matters too. A sex hormone drawn at the wrong point in your cycle can look completely unremarkable.

And when it isn't normal? The usual answer is a prescription or a note to recheck in six months. Sometimes that's exactly the right call. On its own, though, it manages the number without ever asking what pushed it there, which is why the same problem tends to return the moment the support comes off.

Normal is a population range. Optimal is personal. A number can sit comfortably inside a reference range and still be nowhere near where you feel like yourself.

You're not imagining it, and you're not being difficult. You've been assessed with a tool that was never designed to find what you're looking for.

How We Rebalance Your Hormones

A clear sequence built on evidence and testing, paced to how hormones actually respond.

01

Map your pattern

We go through your cycle, your symptoms, and when they show up. Hormonal symptoms have timing, and that timing is diagnostic information most appointments never ask about.

02

Test properly

We test the hormones your pattern actually points to, at the right point in your cycle, using functional and conventional panels together so the picture is complete.

03

Treat the driver

Your plan targets what is actually pushing your hormones off, whether that is blood sugar, stress load, thyroid, nutrient status, or clearance. Nutrition, targeted supplementation, and lifestyle, built for your real schedule.

04

Adjust across cycles

Hormones respond over months, not days. We track how your cycle and symptoms shift and adapt the plan as they do, so progress keeps compounding instead of stalling.

What I Help Women With

Different names, overlapping causes. Each of these is approached by looking at the whole hormonal picture rather than the label.

PMS and PMDD

when the week before your period reliably costs you your mood, your patience, and your sleep.

Irregular or missing periods

cycles that are unpredictable, far apart, or have stopped, including after coming off hormonal birth control.

PCOS

the blood sugar, androgen, and cycle picture together, rather than treating each symptom in isolation.

Thyroid concerns

hypothyroidism and autoimmune thyroid patterns, assessed with a full panel instead of TSH alone.

Perimenopause

the decade of change that often starts in your late 30s and gets dismissed as too early to matter.

Hormonal acne and hair changes

skin and hair treated as hormonal signals, not just surface problems to cover up.

Common Questions

What are the signs of a hormonal imbalance in women?

The most common signs are irregular, heavy, or painful periods, PMS that affects your mood and sleep, fatigue that rest does not fix, weight that stops responding to diet and exercise, adult acne along the jaw, thinning hair, low libido, and anxiety or low mood that tracks with your cycle. Hormonal symptoms usually have timing, which is one of the first things Dr. Sahar looks at.

Can a naturopath help with hormonal imbalance?

Yes. As a licensed naturopathic doctor in Ontario, Dr. Sahar can assess your symptoms, order and interpret hormone testing, and treat the underlying cause using nutrition, targeted supplementation, and lifestyle and stress support. The goal is to find what is pushing your hormones off, rather than only managing the symptoms it creates.

How do you test for hormonal imbalance?

Testing depends on your pattern. It can include sex hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone, a full thyroid panel rather than TSH alone, cortisol rhythm across the day, and blood sugar markers like insulin and HbA1c. The DUTCH test is often used because it shows how hormones rise and fall over a full day rather than at one single moment.

See the full range of hormone and lab testing she offers, or read more about the DUTCH test specifically.

How long does it take to balance hormones naturally?

Most women notice meaningful change within two to three cycles, though it depends on what is driving the imbalance and how long it has been running. Energy and sleep often shift first, cycle changes follow, and skin and hair take the longest because they grow on their own timeline. This is steady work, not a two week reset.

Can you help if I am coming off hormonal birth control?

Yes. This is a common reason women reach out. Coming off the pill can be followed by irregular or absent cycles, acne, or symptoms that were masked while you were on it. Support here is about helping your own cycle re establish rather than waiting to see what happens.

Am I too young for perimenopause?

Probably not, and this is often dismissed. Perimenopause commonly begins in the late 30s and can run for several years before any change in your period is obvious. Shifts in sleep, mood, cycle length, and how your body responds to exercise are often the earliest signals.

My hormone tests came back normal. Can you still help?

Yes, and this is very common. A result inside the reference range is not the same as a result that is optimal for you. It is also common for only part of the picture to have been tested, or for testing to have been done at the wrong point in the cycle, which can miss a pattern entirely.

Do you work with women outside Ontario?
